October 11th and 12th
Last Call for Presenters!
Dear Megan,

This is our last call for presenters interested in hosting a workshop or Master Class during the fall conference held on October 11th and 12th, 2013 in Sisters, Oregon!  We've received and accepted many extraordinary workshops but are seeking even more!  We expect approximately 150 conference attendees that include art teachers from the elementary, middle, secondary and higher level as well as art historians, artists and other professionals with a passion for teaching and making art!  This professional development opportunity is not possible without great workshops and presenters.  This email is soliciting anyone and everyone that feels lead to present a Friday 1 or 2 hour Workshop and/or a Saturday 3 or 6 hour "Master Class" session for OAEA members and conference attendees. Saturday Master Class presenters will receive a small stipend to show our appreciation and hopefully cover some of your potential travel fees.  We will send out more information in regard to this soon. To the left you will find Digital Submission Presenter Forms, if you are interested in hosting a workshop or master class, please submit a digital submission application by May 13th, 2013.  If you have that unique unit or project, it just might  be what another teacher is looking for, so submit your idea!  We would love for your to share your skill, expertise and knowledge!

WHAT KINDS OF WORKSHOPS/MASTER CLASSES ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?
All kinds!  We have a variety of needs!  Complex topics that aide practicing artist-teacher's personal, studio work to basic introductory level classes for teachers who might want to attempt something outside of their media of choice are all welcome!

POTENTIAL PRESENTATION FORMATS:

Best Practices:  Practitioners present exemplary lessons, instructional practices, programs, and/or initiatives from actual practice, perhaps followed by Q&A.
Hands-on Demonstration & Studio Workshop: Present a demonstration or technique relative to art.  Attendees will make a project during the session with materials you provide for them. (If accepted, presenters will be reimbursed for the cost of materials).
Interactive Discussion:  Presenters engage participants in a discussion related to current topics such as effective practice, art education issues, and instructional or curriculum topics.
WORKSHOP/ MASTER CLASS WISH-LIST:

AP/ IB Art- introduction to these programs, advice for those currently in the trenches and best practices! How do you do what you do?!
Art Advocacy- Talk about Common Core, Current or Future Legislation, and the list goes on!  How do you support your program and create community support? Share what you do and what you know!

Critique & Assessments- Critique methods, rubric creation, proficiency based grading, you name it! Share your knowledge and practices!

Intro's to Various Art Techniques-  Present something that would help teachers who are now being asked to teach outside of their comfort zones!  Intro to drawing, watercolor, acrylic, print, jewelry, ceramics, photo or digital art! What's your media of choice?  Share your knowledge! These could be hands on, curriculum & unit sharing, or general overviews. Help those who don't know where to begin!

And whatever else you're thinking about sharing!

(Please keep in mind the best workshops offer something that classroom teachers can bring back to their classrooms and put to use and/or artists can incorporate into their artistic practice!)

Please also consider forwarding this call to your artist friends as they may be interested in teaching a Saturday Master Class for limited compensation.

Digital submissions will be the only form of application accepted this for all presenters.
Please see the Digital Submission Forms in column to the left.  Unsure?  Have questions?  Reply to this email and we'll get right back to you!

Sincerely,

Meg Radocha
